Watched the first episode of the LDA shorts, and I am so ready for more. Nice showcase of Waifu kicking butt with the best intentions, and Jaye being Jaye. Liked the little we saw of Aak and Hung (so far). Cannot wait until we get to see our favourite fishman and what Aak and Hung get up to as well.

fun fact
jaye has something thematically for almost all the (playable) children of ursus characters
obviously the cooking (and unfortunate implications from jaye's s2) for gummy
jaye's hobby is canonically reading, just like istina
Tumblr media
if you stop to read jaye's module and whatever story she appears in, jaye actually has a temper that uncle tung helped regulate, so jaye wouldn't hurt herself or others, so something for zima too!
Tumblr media
and for rosa... yeah...
anyway auntie jaye real

in many ways, hou hsiao-hsien’s a summer at grandpa’s (1984) is a fairly standard coming of age film. as his mother undergoes a dangerous operation, twelve-year-old tung-tung and his younger sister ting-ting stay at their wealthy, old-fashioned grandparents’ house in the country; over the course of that month, they both experience quintessentially youthful moments such as racing turtles and swimming in streams with their friends and witness the experiences the various adults around them are undergoing. in this way, the film comes off as a meeting point between yi yi (2000) and small change (1976) in its comfortably meandering pace, underlying anxiety, and device of innocent childish voyeurism to reframe and defamiliarize the adult experiences already done to death in drama films. however, this film has another theme that interests me, and that is the bodily autonomy or lack thereof of its female characters in the medical system. first and most obviously, tung-tung’s mother spends the entire film as a non-character, largely unconscious, reports of her completely mediated through the two layers of male medical professionals and family members responsible for whether she lives or dies. secondly and perhaps in more standard fashion, tung-tung’s uncle’s girlfriend becomes pregnant and is from then on bound to him, first as a bargaining chip for her mother to try to gain money from his family and later simply as his wife, who cannot choose where she lives or what she wears. neither of these are particularly rare storylines. but the third storyline within this pattern is that of han-tzu, a nonverbal woman with a learning disability. she is impregnated by a man who seems to only be using her for pleasure; her father decides that she will keep the baby so that she will not “wander around” anymore, and that after the baby’s birth she will be sterilized. when she experiences a severe accident and miscarries, her father postpones her planned sterilization, demanding that she first give birth. family, a government official says, is the building block of society; from the film’s worm’s eye view of that rigid, patriarchal society still under martial law, it seems that this building block of society comes at the expense of everyone’s autonomy, but women’s and particularly outcast women’s more than most. though in many ways simply a sweet film, a summer at grandpa’s (1984) is well-paced, well-composed, and unexpectedly poignant, and i would highly recommend it

࣪𓏲ּ ֶָ 𝑤𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑜𝑠𝒕𝒗 ⁝ lola tung, 24 cis female, she/her. announcing the arrival of JAIDE of HOUSE BARATHEON, the LADY of STORM'S END . whispers among the court name them to be both INQUISITIVE and UNREALISTIC in disposition, and those closest to them speak to their interests in horse riding. if we bards could compose a song for them, it might tell stories of galloping through fields with the wind whipping dark tendrils around her, songs sung at top volume when no one is listening as opposed to quietly in fear she could be heard, pastel yellow adorning her wardrobe because it reminds her of sunflowers and her house. the seven whisper to their most devout queen as she sleeps, making her question where their loyalties truly lie. are they right to whisper? for their loyalties truly lie with THE TARGARYENS .
i ⸻ general
NAME  :  jaide baratheon
ALLIANCE  : house baratheon, house targaryen
TITLES  :  lady of storm's end, lady - in - waiting to princess helaena
MARITAL STATUS  :  unbetrothed
ii ⸻ personal
SEXUAL  ORIENTATION  :  bisexual
ROMANTIC  ORIENTATION  :  biromantic
MORAL  ALIGNMENT  :  lawful good
SINS  :  lust / gluttony /  greed  / sloth /  wrath /  pride  /  envy
VIRTUES  : chastity / temperance /  charity  /  diligence  / patience /  kindness  /   humility
iii ⸻ biography
her  memories  of  her  parents  are  blurry  at  best.  the  song  that  her  mother  would  sing  to  her  as  she  slept  at  night,  and  sitting  on  her  father's  lap  as  he  taught  her  not  to  fear  the  storms  that  raged  around  them.  that  was  all  that  she  had  of  them  after  they  died.
her  uncle  treated  them  like  his  own  afterwards,  trying  to  hold  the  family  together  after  there  had  already  been  so  much  loss.  jaide  always  looked  up  to  him,  desperate  for  someone  in  her  life  to  love  her.  though  despite  his  love,  he  always  felt  far  more  like  just  her  uncle  rather  than  a  parent  no  matter  how  hard  she  wished  for  him  to  be.
she  grew  up  as  a  fairly  happy  child.  she  was  always  smiling  during  her  lessons,  especially  loving  learning  the  songs  and  singing  them  proudly  for  all  to  hear.  it  was  also  a  frequent  occurrence  for  her  to  take  her  beloved  horse,  swift  wind,  out  on  rides  through  the  forest.
she  was  introduced  to  the  targaryen's  at  a  young  age,  and  made  fast  friends  with  the  princess  helaena.  the  two  bonded  like  sisters,  whispering  until  late  in  the  night  and  giggling  over  secrets.  upon  meeting  her,  it  was  the  first  that  that  jaide  felt  such  fierce  devotion  to  someone  outside  of  her  own  family.
when  her  uncle  named  her  sibling  his  heir  and  placed  her  in  line  for  storm's  end,  it  didn't  come  as  too  much  of  a  surprise  to  her.  she'd  watcher  her  uncle  and  good  aunt  struggle  for  years  to  conceive.  but  it  never  felt  quite  right,  her  aunt's  gaze  too  full  of  disdain  before  she  smoothed  her  features  for  her  to  feel  truly  at  ease  in  her  place.
as  she  grew  older  and  became  a  lady-in-waiting,  jaide  fell  headfirst  into  a  world  of  royalty.  she  was  able  to  take  part  in  all  the  lavish  celebrations,  had  further  access  to  beautiful  jewellery  and  gowns  just  because  she  was  close  to  the  princess.  it  was  like  something  out  of  the  songs,  and  jaide  felt  as  though  she  was  always  meant  for  such  a  thing.
she  tends  to  turn  a  blind  eye  to  the  uglier  parts  of  the  capital,  unwilling  to  allow  it  to  seep  into  the  wonderful  life  that  she  was  bestowed.  she  tends  to  focus  on  the  positive,  always  looking  for  a  silver  lining.  she's  usually  the  one  people  turn  to  when  they  need  cheering  up,  or  the  person  to  avoid  if  they'd  rather  brood.
she's  a  little  too  innocent  and  naive  for  her  own  good.  can  be  a  little  judgemental  sometimes  because  she's  traditional,  but  overall  is  very  sweet  and  loves  making  new  acquaintances.
she's  a  little  bit  worried  about  her  eldest  sibling's  place  as  heir  with  all  of  her  uncle's  bastards  showing  up.  she  adores  her  place  in  this  life,  and  wants  nothing  more  than  the  best  for  her  family.  she  hates  the  possibility  of  her  uncle  possibly  asking  the  queen  for  legitimacy,  effectively  removing  her  sibling  from  the  title  that  they  deserved  in  jaide's  eyes.
iv ⸻ tidbits
loves  horse  riding  more  than  anything  in  this  world.  when  her  mind  feels  like  a  mess,  she'll  often  go  for  a  ride  in  order  to  clear  it.
also  loves  reading,  especially  fairy-tale  like  stories.  she  loves  envisioning  herself  in  the  place  of  a  princess  or  being  whisked  away  by  some  mysterious  stranger  for  a  life  of  adventure  and  romance.
she's  a  beautiful  singer  and  while  she  loves  doing  so  when  she  thinks  she's  alone,  she  gets  incredibly  shy  in  front  of  people  and  will  balk  at  the  thought  of  doing  so.
v ⸻ wanted connections
annoyance  :  someone  who  despite  all  of  her  kindness  and  good  manners  she  can't  help  but  find  annoying  every  time  they  grace  her  presence.  it  flusters  her  to  be  so  rude  to  them,  and  yet,  she  can't  seem  to  do  anything  else.
corrupter  :  she's  honestly  quite  innocent  in  all  ways,  so  someone  leading  her  down  the  path  or  corruption?  pls.  making  her  further  doubt  her  uncle?  hell  yeah.  taking  he  virginity?  do  it.  Ruin  her.

Okay Uncle Billy.
*She grabs a brush uses it without paint to get the hang of using it before She starts to actually paint sticking her little tung out while concentrating*
*Briggsy sees a small girl walk into the hallow holding a fox She's too far away to make out any details, but Briggsy can tell she's wearing a green dress*
*Briggsy looks… Definitely worse for wear. He is obviously weak and tired, a painful-looking bite in one shoulder, but is covered in enough lipstick smooches for them to overlap one another. He’s shirtless as well, not that strange of a sight but the lack of a coat is what looks odd. He looks at the little girl with a frown.*
*He is also holding a small orange kitten.*

why exactly is jaye not just a normal guy? are his fish filleting skills actually signs of being a genetic freak and i'm not normal or something?
Jaye has connections to the deep criminal underbelly of Lungmen, and by deep I mean almost familial, but the thing is, he doesn't really know it. He is the disciple-slash-adopted son of Uncle Tung, a famous chef who happens to also be deeply involved with several of the most powerful figures of Lungmen's criminal world. Tung taught him how to cook, particularly sushi, but also taught him how to fight, just in case, which Jaye considers "oh, you know, the basics, just in case someone tries to start something, to defend myself" when in fact Tung taught him Ultimate Knifefighting 30000 and built his already naturally strong and sturdy Ursus body into a machine of pure shredded muscle, which is why he can just actually shove his arm up the ass of pretty much anybody and wear them like Kermit the Frog if he wants. But as far as he's concerned, he's just "good for self-defense". He has no idea he's as strong and skilled as he is.
Through Uncle Tung he is also close to Lin Kojui AKA the Rat Freaking King, the giant rat that makes all of the rules in said criminal underworld, except he doesn't know that his kind, nice, old uncle Kojui is actually the Rat King, just that he is an old friend and frequent customer of Tung's.
On the other side of the coin, he is also related to Lee's Detective Agency, as he is good friends with Waai Fu and apparently also friend or at least close enough to the agency as a whole (his own Files state that Lee's agency are regulars of his) that it was due to Jaye "disappearing" from his usual spot in Lungmen for three days in a row that got Mr. Lee himself curious about where he could've gone, getting concerned that something might have happened to him. It's THIS event that directly resulted, as per Lee's Files, in Lee calling up the Rat freaking King himself, asking "hey man, where's our collective son?" and Kojui pointing at Rhodes Island. So, it is directly because of Jaye's connection to Lee that the agency's partnership with Rhodes Island exists in the first place, after Lee went to check with his own eyes if he was alright.
Besides all of this, because of his extremely intimidating appearance -- mean looking resting face, ripped, skilled with knives -- people often mistook him for a triad, which got him in trouble here and there when other triads thought he was an outsider trying to stir up trouble, or simply, with normal citizens who simply thought he was a bad guy to be avoided. Jaye is apparently notorious enough that Hoshiguma looked into him, and what did Hoshiguma find? Well, that Jaye really, really is just a normal ass guy who happens to have every underworld connection ever, but is not even remotely aware of it. His friend, Waai Fu, being an actual vigilante that beats the shit out of triads on sight at night on Lungmen, being seen with him, only reinforces people's judgment of him, as apparently many people think he is the leader of maybe several gangs and that Waai Fu is a martial arts master under his employ, when the reality is, Waai Fu is just bros with this dude and happens to enjoy one inch punching criminals in her free time. All he knows is that she's a vigilante but that's fine.
All of this made Hoshiguma think "holy shit" and referred him to Rhodes Island not because she thought he'd make a good combatant, but rather, out of concern for the guy.
There's a bit more to him as a whole, but to summarize:
Jaye has deep, personal connections to the Rat King.
Jaye has deep, personal connections to Lee's Detective Agency.
Jaye has connections to the Lungmen Guard Department.
Jaye was taught to fight (and cook) by a personal friend and enforcer of the Rat King.
Jaye does not realize any of this.
Unlike Mr. Nothing or Shalem, who are very well aware of how very not normal they are, Jaye really thinks he's just an average cook and sushi chef, and has no idea that his incredible fighting skill (rated "Excellent" by Rhodes Island standards) is not normal citizen-grade, nor that he actually can get in contact, if he so wished and knew, with virtually the highest echelons of power on both ends of the table in Lungmen as a whole. Jaye could potentially literally just call up the Rat King if he wanted, he just doesn't know he can, and even if he did, it's likely he wouldn't, as his Files and Waai Fu both state that despite looking the way he does, he's actually a really nice guy who likes to read books and practice his cooking, and who really thinks he's just doing his 9 to 5 nowadays, except for some reason Hoshiguma referred him to a god damn Private Military Company that cosplays as a pharmaceuticals company, so now he has less time to cook in between clashing blades with Sarkaz Swordmasters and soloing Big Bob in the creepy fucked up castle that Phantom decided to go crazy inside of.

Zuko's redemption was not 11 episodes, more like 40. We constantly saw him be a moral person inside, try to save his enemies' lives, fighting for the poor etc. Catra was consistently evil, sadistic and only kept getting more and more personally abusive and even omnicidal. And then suddenly oops we forgive you because you did one good thing in your life. Zuko did countless good things before joining Aang and then kept striving to do good to his new friends and to the world while Catra just stood there being snarky on the side. Do not compare the GOAT with the worst mean girl you've ever met.
First of all Catra was seen risking her neck lying to protect those she cared about from literally episode 1 and she was always punished for these better instincts. She also took Entrapta in when in Catras eyes they had abandoned her (you can say it was manipulation all you want Catra genuinely believed the princesses were like that based on her own experience) she stuck her neck out for Entrapta when she thought Entrapta was in danger from Hordak. She lied to Hordak to protect Scorpia. She also was and I quote "the best boss" that the Crimson waste crew had ever had. Meaning she was much less cruel than Huntara AND Tung Lashor. She tried to help save her FUCKING ABUSER from a horrible fate. And she WASNT forgiven for just doing one good thing she was forgiven for doing that AND working on herself and helping the bfs win the war.
Now tell me was threatening a native tribe and kidnapping a child "doing good" was burning down an island village for sheltering said child? What about stealing a native girls cultural artifact and family heirloom and using that to attempt to force her to betray the child what about aiding an invasion on another indigenous tribe? And then using that invasion as a distraction to kidnap the child again. What about stealing from poor people? How about aiding the invasion and takeover of a sovereign kingdom and helping his sister murder the child. Tell me what goodwill did Zuko have hiring an assassin to go kill that child when it turns out the child survived? What about being emotionally abusive to his friend and his girlfriend? What about being abusive to his Uncle? Zuko had years of refusing to do the right thing because he wanted to regain his father's love. Your "GOAT" Ruined way more lives than "good things" he did before he finally gave up chasing his father's praise.

My notifs have been blowing up all day for this post and it's making me so happy to see so many of you enjoying that I drew Jaye a bit more muscular than his official art ;u; I didn't think I drew him buff enough, to be honest... I'll try harder to buff him up more, I know he's built like a brick with a soft layer of insulationcushion on the outside. For now, I'm glad you like his arms <3
He's busy taking to-go orders for Uncle Tung, but he appreciates the compliments, too
Thank you for the love!

So I made a playlist because of the Fundy and Dream wedding, as promised. Here’s the link to the playlist. I have my interpretations on them as far as fundywastaken goes under the cut!
Song No. 1: Home - Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
This song made me think of Fundy and Dream singing this to one another, having this kind of conversation at some point before their wedding and just in general being lovey. Feeling like everything will be okay- will be good- so long as they can be home with the one another.
Song No. 2: Go To War - Nothing More
After the wedding, back in Lmanburg, another war is upon them. Dream and Fundy are still standing on separate sides of the conflict, except now Fundy doesn’t care whether or not Dream gets hurt. “Here we stand on opposing sides, let’s go to war!” He’s ready to fight for L’manburg and hurt Dream for what he’s done.
Song No. 3: Bust Your Knee Caps - Pomplamoose
This ties a little bit into a concept from another post I made (I’ll link it here once both of the posts are up). Canonically, Fundy is Wilbur’s son. This makes Philza his grandad and Tommy and Techno his uncles. Imagine for me, the entire family extraordinarily pissed off at Dream for what he did to Fundy on the day of the wedding. “Then you got cold feet, now all you’ll be is a speed bump.” Imagine them wanting to completely mess that man up after hurting their Fundy.
Song No. 4: Soulmate Song - Carson James Argenna
This is a sad(ish), love-related song so I couldn’t help thinking of them while listening to it after the wedding. If I had to put a scenario to this, I would imagine Fundy reflecting on conversations he had with Dream and then coming back to reality knowing it’s all over.
Song No. 5: Tungs - The Frights
This one has two feelings for me. One being a more energetic phase of their relationship where they were head over heels and just happy being around one another. Two is Fundy being a little more aggressive towards Dream, telling him it’s too late (Do you think I'm cute? Well it's too late to check) and acknowledging how much he put in the relationship without getting back as much as he should have (Have you seen my shoes? Cause they've been ripped to shit From walking the world for you)
Song No. 6: Pretty Girl - Clairo
Fundy reminiscing on the relationship and desperately thinking how he would go so far as to change himself if Dream would just keep being with him. Thinking maybe he was foolish for thinking the relationship would work out in the first place.
Song No. 7: Sh-Boom - The Chords
First of all, “life could be a dream.” Second of all, Fundy and Dream talking about wanting to be married and being happy together.
Song No. 8: Monster - dodie
I know this is applicable to so, so many dynamics on the Dream SMP, but imagine Fundy and Dream having this conversation back on the SMP after the wedding. Also you could take the line “am I ready to let this die?” as Dream (or both of them) doubting whether he really wants to say goodbye to this relationship. (Side note- really wish I was a better artist and had the patience to animate because I would do a whole animatic of this)
Song No. 9: falling for you - peachy! (ft. mxmtoon)
Really early stages of their relationship, right as they’re realizing their feelings for one another and starting to consider, internally, what to do about it.
Song No. 10: i love you - Billie Eilish
Most of these songs definitely feel like Fundy’s POV to me, but this one (and number nine) feel more like Dream to me. This song seems like Dream questioning what he did, why he hurt Fundy like that, and reflecting on how close he let Fundy get. Another interpretation could be (around 1:10 in the song) that Dream is getting scared of losing Fundy earlier in their relationship. He doesn’t want to let this be real, as much as he wants to be with him, and he wishes Fundy hadn’t told Dream he loved him.
Outro
That’s all I’ve got. Hope at least a few people enjoyed this! Have a good one, folks ❤️
